It is no secret that Americans have a love affair with cars.

Impressive grill on a Chevy
The Beach Boy brag about their “409” and “Little Duece Coupe,” Wilson Pickett sings about “Mustang Sally,” Janice Joplin had her “Mercedes Benz,” Prince preferred a “Little Red Corvette,” and War let everyone know all about a “Low Rider.”
Hundreds of car and motorcycle enthusiasts head for Canal Street in New Smyrna Beach for the East Coast Cruisers Cruise-In, from 4-8 p.m., the second Saturday of each month.
The models read like a who’s who of the auto industry, past and present.Mustang, Camero, Henry J, Zimmer, Barracuda, Corvette, Nova, Thunderbird, Model T, classic Chevy, Ford, and Oldsmobiles.
This is not a car show where you have to tramp through a pasture to view the cars.
The crew from the East Coast Cruisers line up the cars side-by-side and angled to the curb from the U.S. 1 end of Canal Street to Riverside Drive, as well as extending onto some of the side streets.
With the cars backed up on both sides of the street, an open walkway is left in the middle of the street for easy viewing of the classics and muscle cars.

There have been Cruise Nights with more than 1,000 vehicles parked on the street to the delight of hundreds and hundreds of car lovers attending.
No money is charged to show a car on cruise night. The cars don’t have to be classics and there are no age requirements. The only rule is that if the car is new, it must be a factory special, a muscle car or modified in some way.

Canal Street turns into Memory Lane the second Saturday of the month and everyone is invited to come take a stroll.
