I keep meaning to post these photos, but somehow just didn’t get to it.

David and Karin Jenkins held a reception Oct. 25, here in New Smyrna Beach,  for son  Ryan, who married his sweetheart Jenn, up north, where her folks live.

I worked in Daytona Beach both days of Flamingo Follies, but flew up and down the street quickly before work on Sunday morning. Was great weather. a great crowd, and lots of great arts and crafts. Here are a couple pictures I took that morning.

The IMAGES Tour of Homes presents unique and interesting homes decorated for the holidays by area florists each December. It is the main fundraiser for IMAGES: A Festival of the Arts, which will be held Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 in Riverside Park in downtown New Smyrna Beach.

Homes on this year’s tour included:

  • The historic circa 1924 Mediterranean style Faulkner Street home of John and Shirleen Foster, decorated by New Smyrna Beach Florist.
  • The colorful and comfortable home of artists Ed and Joyce Dowling, also on Faulkner Street, which featured “festive flamingo” decorations put up by the owners and Ed’s mother, Betty, who lives with them.
  • The renovated 1915 Magnolia Street home of Cindee and Al Peterson, with its lush landscaped backyard and outside bar, decorated by Mary Ann’s Flowers and Gifts.
  • Fielding and Kathy Cooley’s Magnolia Street home with its large wrap-around porches and unique two front doors, also built in 1915, decorated by Pink Flamingo at Petals.
  • The wonderfully eclectic renovated Turnbull Bay home of Norman and Debbie Earle on Sunset Drive, with its stunning infinity edge swimming pool.

The tour also included a visit to the New Smyrna Museum of History, which featured tours of the numerous exhibits housed in the museum, including the state-of-the-art Turnbull exhibit that was developed with a $250,000 grant from the State of Florida. The museum also featured an exhibit showcasing an “old-fashioned Christmas” including old toys.

The popular IMAGES Boutique was held at Atlantic Center for the Arts. Harris House League volunteers worked countless hours all year long to create holiday ornaments, hand-made purses and jackets, jewelry, decorated hats, children’s furniture, beaded watchbands, bracelets and earrings, aprons, decorated gourds, hand-made cards, stepping stones, and other unique and lovely items. The boutique feature a silent auction, and offered an elegant array of tea sandwiches and other refreshments to ticket holders.

IMAGES warmly thanks the homeowners, volunteers, artists, participating florists, Chef Sue Flynn, The Island Voice, and businesses that support the Tour of Home.

Organizers would also like to thank the community for supporting this year’s tour and making it such a big success.

Volunteers are now busy preparing for IMAGES: A Festival of the Arts. For more information, to volunteer or become a patron, phone the IMAGES office at 386-423-4733, or visit its website, www.imagesartfestival.org.
