June 24, 2007–
Local writer (View form Bascule Mountain), Rotarian, volunteer and weekend bridge-tender Paul Mayer celebrated his 70th birthday June 22. Wife, Kathy sent out invitations that promised “spirituous libations and stuff to eat.” And she delivered – including some special music played for Paul that brought tears to his eyes.
It was a great party with folks gathering on the patio and the dock. There was a spectacular sunset, a pineapple upside-down “70″ cake and lots of “happy birthday” wishes.
One of Paul’s gifts was a “marshmallow shooter” that friends bought for him at last Thursday night’s Seaside Fiesta.
Paul was having a fine time trying it out, proving that you can’t take the little boy out of a man, no matter what age he reaches.
Happy Birthday, Paul, and many more.
